Hiiii! How haze everyone been the past few days? I know, the haze has been a major distraction recently. Every time i step out of my house, the smell just hits you so hard and you start to wonder if there’s a fire going on 10feet around you or smth. Urgh. I hate it so much. I hate the smell and the fog. But i guess we just gotta live with it. I’m sure the haze will get better over the next couple of days.
Anw, i’m backkkkkk! The past weekend was just simply wonderful. I really felt God’s presence at NYC, and everything just fell so smoothly. Since camp, i’ve been getting this overwhelming feeling of gratitude E VERY DAY. It’s like the moment i wake up and think of all the things God has blessed me with, i can’t help but whisper a “Thank You” to HIM. HE is simply amazing! I’ll probably blog about my #NYC13 experience some other time when i’ve gotten hold of all the photos from all over the world. Hahaha. There were just too many cameras at camp to keep track of who took what.
For today, i’ll blog about my recent USS experience with my family! Having been to USS for like countless times in the past, i was not so enthusiastic about taking photos with all the mascots (man, the queues were really long) or the architecture. I was in fact only interested in taking my roller coaster rides and trying on the new Transformers ride (which was soooooo damn good)
We parked our car at the beach station and took a tram to RWS station. If you’re driving to USS, this is an extremely good tip because the savings from parking at beach station is extremely substantial! Like we paid about $12 for 12 hours, as compared to parking at USS for $7/hour?!?!?! That’s just insane. Imagine 12hr x $7 = $96?! That’s more than the price of a usual USS adult ticket! Anw, while walking to the tram, we saw a golden retriever sitting in the sun with shades on! Everyone was just gathering around him to snap a pic of him, or her. AHHHH! I WANT TO CARRY IT HOME!
We were all really intrigued by this relatively new machine at USS. It’s a drying pod btw! All you have to do is to drop $5 into the machine and it will blow out air for you to dry yourself from all the water that drench you at the Jurassic park ride. BTW, if you have not been to USS, please remember to bring a poncho for the Jurassic Park ride! The first time i took the ride without any poncho, i was SOAKED. Like really soaked from top to bottom.
We headed out to the Malaysian Food Street (located just beside USS) for lunch. As it was my first time visiting that place, i had no expectations for it, except for the $20 food voucher that Yu gave us. But when i stepped into the Malaysian food street, i was in love with that place. Firstly, it was air-conditioned (to combat the hot weather in USS), secondly, the design and layout really made it seem like i was walking the streets of Malaya in the 1960s. OH YES! I know what it felt like! It felt like stepping into a museum which houses Singapore in the 1960s!
Anw, the range of price for the food were about $4.50 t0 $12? Seems a little pricey for most of the food, but… they were really worth it! I really loved the food there, and so did my parents. I really liked the claypot chicken rice, char kway teow (slightly salty though), Bak ku teh, and especially the chendol (!!!!!) which was soooooooo awesome as they really spammed gula melaka. Ah, my fav!
Honestly, HOW DID I GROW UP ALL MY LIFE NOT KNOWING THE EXISTENCE OF ABBY CADABBY?!?! The only people i know from Sesame street are Elmo, Big bird, and cookie monster! hahahahahah. Anw, Abby Cadabby is my new fav character! She’s so pretty, lovely and the colors on her just brightens up your day! So glad i managed to have a photo taken with her. I literally rushed behind the mascot escot just to be first in line, lollllllll.
And yes, this is also one of the new segment that USS offers right now. It’s the evening parade where most of the casts and mascots would parade around USS to say Hi to everyone. It felt so much like i was at Disneyland… except without Mickey and Minnie. Children would be very interested in this!
I finally tried the roasted turkey leg that everyone raves about when they visit USS. Honestly… I didn’t really like it, ALTHOUGH the taste was great? Maybe it’s because i’m not a fan of luncheon meat / fatty meat. The roasted turkey leg tasted a lot like a cross between those waxed duck the chinese eat during CNY and luncheon meat. As for me, i’ve always strayed away from the porkish, fatty taste these food have, therefore i didn’t really enjoy the turkey leg. But the others loved it nonetheless. And the meat was really tender too! But $12 for 1 of this… :OOOO
Since it was a Saturday and there was fireworks display at night, we decided to stay all the way to make our money worth it. I’m glad we stayed because the fireworks display was A-MAZE-ING! I managed to capture some of them on my G12 which turned out so beautiful with all the colors of sparks flying across the sky.
All in all, it was a wonderful trip to USS, again, with my favorite people! Maybe i won’t be visiting USS anytime again soon, but i’m sure I’d be visiting the Malaysian Food Street with my family soon. My parents just simply love that place. Maybe because it brings back memories of the past? haha. Blessed week, everyone! 🙂
